Evolving SEO Review

Tech Industry Cover

Your business can have the best website out there, but it won’t do you any good if customers can’t find it.

This is why SEO (search engine optimization) is so important for businesses like yours. By optimizing your site for search engines, you can drive relevant traffic to your pages.

Mastering SEO requires you to keep up with Google’s algorithm and figure out how to outrank your competitors. The process takes a lot of time, effort, and research. It also involves a lot of trial and error (and, yes, failure).

If you’re struggling with SEO, you might think about reaching out to a consulting agency. An agency can analyze your strategy and give recommendations for improvement.

One of these consulting agencies is Evolving SEO. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at Evolving SEO and determine if it can help your website rank higher.

What Is Evolving SEO?

Evolving SEO is an agency that provides SEO consulting to businesses and marketers. Even though the agency is based in Massachusetts, it works with clients around the world.

Aside from its consulting services, the agency offers training and makes appearances at events. It also provides free educational resources through its blog and podcast.

Who Founded Evolving SEO?

Dan Shure founded evolving SEO. See below for more information about the agency’s founder.

Dan Shure is an SEO expert with over ten years of experience. He started his career in 2007 and officially formed Evolving SEO in 2010. Throughout the years, he has consulted for many different types of businesses.

Dan works on his consulting projects using a holistic approach. This involves clearing up misconceptions about SEO and solving an organization’s specific challenges. His ultimate goal is to increase a business’s web traffic and empower them to take charge of their own campaigns.

What Can I Expect from This Agency’s “‘Full Service’ SEO Consulting?”

The agency’s “Full Service” SEO Consulting is one of its most popular offerings. This service will work closely with a business over 2-3 months to develop its SEO strategy.

The process involves tasks, including:

  • Technical website audits
  • Content audits
  • SEO training, tracking, maintenance, etc.
  • Keyword research
  • Content planning

Dan provides an accurate quote and SOW before a company signs up for the “Full Service” plan. This ensures you know exactly what to expect.

Once you sign on, the agency keeps you in the loop through deliverables. You’ll know what work it is completing thanks to Moz reports, Google Spreadsheet documents, etc.

Overall, we are a fan of this package. It is quite expensive, but it gives you the expert SEO advice you’re looking for.

Best of all, clients get the individualized attention they need to see results.

What Is the Agency’s SEO Jumpstart Service?

Some companies don’t need ongoing consulting. Rather, they need a little help with a specific project. That’s where Evolving SEO’s Jumpstart Service comes in.

With the SEO Jumpstart Service, Dan will work on your project for one day. He will also conduct a one-hour video call in which he’ll share his recommendations. In addition to all of Dan’s notes and list of recommended resources, you’ll get the opportunity to record the call.

The SEO Jumpstart Service can provide decent advice for projects like content calendar creation, keyword research & analysis, etc. However, we find that it is not worth the high price tag. One day isn’t nearly enough for Dan to become familiar enough with your business to produce tangible results.

What Is the Evolving SEO Blog?

The agency’s blog serves as an SEO resource for marketers and businesses. All of the content is free and covers a wide variety of topics (social media marketing, keyword research, etc.).

Founder Dan Shure writes all of the blog’s posts. He is one of the industry’s leading experts, but we find that having one author leads to a narrow perspective. For a complete picture, we would like to see other experts contribute to the blog.

Posts have been sparse as of recently. That being said, the posts that the blog does have contain lots of good information. Well-researched and easy to read, the posts were clearly written by an industry expert. Businesses can trust the information and use it to improve their SEO.

Is the Evolving SEO Podcast Any Good?

If you think the Evolving SEO blog is good, just wait until you check out its podcast.

The podcast is yet another educational SEO resource. We find it to be more engaging as it covers more interesting topics. We also like that it brings in other industry experts. Guests like Claudia Higgins and JR Oakes contribute their unique perspectives to offer a fuller picture.

Episodes are much more frequent than blog posts. Each episode is around an hour, but they never feel long. They are very engaging, free of filler, and packed full of helpful advice.

The podcast is available on all major platforms, including Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, etc. Listeners can also subscribe to a mailing list. The podcast will notify them of new episode uploads and provide them with a listening link.

What About the Seminars?

Evolving SEO also offers seminars. Through these seminars, in-house teams learn how to implement SEO into their businesses effectively. The presentations are fun, engaging, and filled with actionable tips.

Seeing as Dan can visit an organization or host the training at his office, seminars are flexible. He can also train just a few employees or an entire team.

The seminars are a good way to give your team a brief overview of SEO. Dan can even cater them to talk about the topics your company is most interested in.

However, it’s worth noting that they are somewhat general. This is to be expected, considering the presentation is only a one-day thing that lasts a couple of hours. We feel that something with a more specific lesson plan would be more beneficial to teams trying to implement SEO.

Who Is Evolving SEO For?

Evolving SEO’s blog and podcast are for DIYers. Businesses can use these resources to learn about SEO and get advice for their own campaigns.

The seminars are good for businesses who need to train their employees on essential SEO techniques.

The consulting services are perfect for businesses in many industries (B2C, B2B, SaaS, startups, eCommerce, etc.). Dan has experience working with all of these and can offer relevant recommendations.

It’s important to note that Dan usually only works with companies that:

  • Employ 10-200+ people
  • Have an internal marketing/content department
  • Have their own development resources

He usually doesn’t work with businesses with less than five employees, and he won’t accept clients that are mainly looking to rank in location-specific searches.

If you are interested in Dan’s services, consider contacting Evolving SEO. He will help you determine if the agency is a good fit for you. If not, he will recommend you to other reputable agencies.

Is Evolving SEO Worth It?

Does this agency live up to the hype? Here’s a quick look at its pros and cons:

Pros

  • Intensive full-service consulting
  • Led by expert Dan Shure
  • Free blog and podcast that are engaging and informative

Cons

  • Expensive Jumpstart Service that doesn’t effectively address a business’s SEO needs
  • The blog lacks perspectives from other SEO experts
  • Seminars are broad in nature and lack structure

Overall, Evolving SEO does provide helpful advice and services. We do advise you to be wary of its expensive Jumpstart Service.
